Soda Stream Review

Hello all! Thrifty Nifty Daddy here to do my first review for all the awesome fans of Thrifty Nifty Mommy! Just think of me as the hairier, less attractive version of Thrifty Nifty Mommy. Yep... no eye candy here. On to the review!

The SodaStream is an absolute dream-come-true for anyone who has always wondered what would happen if they cram a compressed gas into that stuff that comes out of the kitchen faucet. And lets be honest, who hasn't wanted to try cramming a compressed gas into faucet juice? I can't think of anyone. Add one of the many delicious SodaStream flavorings and BAM!!! you got yourself a tasty, refreshing cola! (Man, I say “BAM!!!” way better than Emeril. Hey Lagasse! Put that in your juice box and suck it!)

My dogs went nuts when I turned the SodaStream on. Anything that makes my dogs happy is cool in my book. It's easy to use and brilliantly designed. Here's the instructions broken down Barney-style:

1: Insert CO2 canister into back of SodaStream
2: Fill soda bottle to the marked line with water
3: Press the button on the top of the SodaStream unit to infuse the carbonation
4: Add your desired soda sauce (flavor syrup)
5: Shake
6: Tell Coke and Pepsi where to stick it
7: Gain a sense of smug satisfaction
8: Enjoy

To make it even easier you can skip steps 6 & 7! Easy, breezy! Health conscience? Most flavors are made with Splenda. And the benefits just keep coming!

Now, my loyal blog drones, go and buy one!

-Thrifty Nifty “SodaStream Drinking” Daddy

Can we have a big round of applause for my wonderful husband?! That's his first review and we hope you enjoyed it! I just wanted to add my 2 cents (as all good wives do, right?)

This thing is definitely nifty. It really does work and it's very easy to use! A 5 year old child could work it on their own, easily.  I have to say that there were 2 things I didn't like. One, most of the sodas are sweetened with Splenda. I can taste the difference and do prefer sugar. They are still good, I just prefer sugar. If you like the way that diet drinks taste though, you'll love it! And two, the container that you make the soda in is not dishwasher safe. I hate hand washing--but it's not to bad when you're getting your own soda at home! The one thing I did like though is that Soda Stream offers all natural soda flavors and these DO have regular sugar in them. We have 2 flavors of this and they are very good!

If you'd like to purchase your own Soda Stream, you can find them on http://www.amazon.com/ or purchase them directly from the company at http://www.sodastreamusa.com/.

  2. This is a really good idea. I had no idea that these things were made. We go through so much soda that I was forced to buy the cheap store stuff. Excellent review. Your hubby cracks me up!!!

  4. First off love the hubs coming in on the action! :) If he going to be an avid blogger now?

I have seen these Soda fountains on lots of reviews. I am not a big soda drinker... and i HATE SPLENDA, or any artificial sweetener for that matter. So I am glad to hear they have some regular too.

    Thanks for posting "Thrifty-Nifty Daddy"
