Bummas Review and Giveaway **CLOSED**

**Congrats to MommieVentures! You've won!!**

Have you ever bought a product, only to get it home and realize it wasn't what you thought you were getting? Well, that happened to me when I opened up my package of Bummas. I thought that these were just your normal, average cloth wipes. Then I actually read the packaging and realized I was so wrong! (But in a good way!!)

Bummas' slogan is:
"After the wipe and before the dipe,
a soft kiss of cloth to dry bums off.
Keep diaper rash at bay, the Bummas way."

Genius! I don't know about you, but how many times have you wiped your child's butt, only to realize it is still wet and you need to find a way to dry it before putting a clean diaper back on. Problem solved! Bummas have made special 5" by 7" wipes for this very purpose. With Bummas, I don't have wait for her little tush to air dry, or find a dry washcloth to wipe it off, I just grab one Bumma and it's done!

As most of you know, I do cloth diaper my daughter, but these wipes will come in handy for you even if you chose not to cloth diaper! These wipes are 100% cotton, durable, and come in a variety of colors! And, not only are they great for drying baby after a diaper change, but you can also use them to avert the squirt when changing a diaper, use them on your shoulder when burping baby, keep some in your diaper bag for quick cleanup, and they are even soft enough to wipe baby's nose! These wipes also eliminate the need to use talcum powder (which is great, considering a have a little girl and have read that it can lead to certain cancers!) The list of uses for these goes on and on. Oh, and did I mention, they can also be used for what I originally thought they were made for, a great cloth wipe! They are a little bit smaller than other cloth wipes I have used, but they still work really well!

You can purchase Bummas in sets of 10 for only $16.99 here on their website or from one of their many retailers, here! Are they worth the almost $17 price tag? Well, I bought 8 baby washcloths from Walmart for $2 to use as wet/dry cloth wipes. Do the Walmart wipes work--yes. Are they as soft as Bummas, definitely not. Are they are durable as Bummas, no way! If you're in a bind and don't have the extra cash to spend on wipes, you can live without Bummas, BUT if you want something though that will stand the test of time, and be soft on your baby's bum, Bummas are a great product!

I was sent a 10 pack of Bummas in the Tropical color scheme, and now you could win the same! That's right, Bummas is generously offering one of my readers their own pack! And, I forgot to mention how nice the colors are! 2 wipes in the pack are solid colors: green and orange. The rest are white with colorful trim. I love how bright and cheerful they look!

Tommee Tippee Review and Giveaway! **CLOSED**

*This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to "soccer_nsa," you won!*

Do any of you still have some of you favorite childhood items? My mom was not a saver. She hates knickknacks and is not one to hold onto anything. As kids we each had one box for our "keepsake" items that we could put whatever we wanted into. I managed to save my 2 favorite dresses, a bunch of school papers, a plaque or 2, some art work, a few stuffed animals, and a sippy cup. Yes, a sippy cup. I absolutely LOVED one of my sippy cups. I don't know if it was the cute bear on the front, the tiny size, or the fun name, but for whatever reason, I just loved it and can remember using it long after I really needed to be using a sippy cup.

Of course, you've guessed it, its a Tommee Tippee Sippy! It's worn as you can see, but still works! This was back before they invented the no spill attachments too, so it definitely does leak, but you better believe I'll be letting my daughter use it!

I was super excited to discover that Tommee Tippee still made sippy cups! I hadn't seen them in forever and thought they were long gone. I have since found out that you can purchase them exclusively at Babies R Us and Toys R Us. In fact, Tommee Tippee has a whole line of sippy cups, tableware, bibs, pacifiers and bottles!

I was sent 2 of their "Explora" line cups for my daughter to try. The cups say 6mo+ and my daughter will be 6 months in a matter of days. I just started giving her a cup to experiment with, a little over a week ago.  She was able to grab onto the handles right away, and put it to her mouth like a pro. It was amazing really! You'd think she had been drinking out of a cup for weeks! She is still practicing sucking the liquid out, but is getting better every day!

There are 2 main things that are important to me with a sippy cup. One, it can't leak! I have new carpet and I don't want it stained. And, two, they have to be easy to clean.  Well, let me just tell you, I dropped this cup (not on purpose, just purely because I'm a klutz!) on my kitchen floor not less than 1 minute after putting water in it the first time. Not a drop came out of it! Thank goodness! And easy to clean? You bet! The valve system is really easy to take apart, and I loaded it into the dishwasher. I didn't read beforehand if it was dishwasher safe or not (frankly, if it wasn't, I would still have put it in there. I am way too busy to hand wash!) but it washed up really well!  I have since checked and yes, it is dishwasher and microwave safe!

Oh, something else nice about the cup, it has a attached protective cover to put over the drinking spout! This is extra nice because I know that I'll be tossing it into the diaper bag when we go out, and this will keep it clean and germ free!

These are great cups and I am so excited that my daughter will be able to continue to enjoy the Tommee Tippee brand just like I did!

We will be making a trip to our local Toys R Us soon to purchase some of their tableware and bibs next!

For more information on Tommee Tippee, check out their website, http://www.tommeetippee.us/index.html and find them on Facebook, Here!

Now, you'd like the chance to try out one of their cups too, right? Well they have offered to send one lucky reader a 2-pack of the trainer, sippy, or drinking cups! You can pick the color preference too!

I'm going to try to make this one super easy to enter. You can have up to 2 entries.

JKM Soy Candle Review and Giveaway! **CLOSED**

*This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to addictedtocloth!! You've won a 4oz candle in the scent of your choice!*

I love, absolutely LOVE the Summer time! I love the heat, I love the swimming, the vacations--love it! So, when Fall starts rolling around, I start to get a little sad knowing that Winter will soon be here. I live in WV, about 2 hours from our nation's capital. Last year, we had over 3 feet of snow! It was an awful, AWFUL Winter! I was just sure I would go into labor during one of those bad snow storms and my midwife would not be able to make it to the house for the birth of my daughter. Luckily, she came on a snow-free day!

I know, I did say this would be about candles. :) I brought all of this up because I received a soy candle in "Autumn Harvest" scent from JKM Soy Candles. Man does it smell good! I lit the candle less than 2 minutes after I opened the box--I'm not exaggerating! I couldn't wait to smell it burning in my house.  After a short amount of time, my house was filled with this wonderful, autumn scent. It smelled so good, I started craving apple cider and, believe it or not, actually looking forward to the arrival of fall. I've been thinking pumpkins, apple pie, and Thanksgiving ever since (do you guys realize Christmas is less than 100 days away?!?)
I've always loved candles! In fact, every year for my birthday one of the presents I ask for and receive from my in laws is a HUGE candle with 3 wicks that I burn all year long.  I burn candles at my house almost every night we are home, but to be honest, I just get the one that smells the best. I have never really noticed the different ingredients used to make candles. Jenny, the stay-at-home mom and owner of JKM Soy Candles explains why soy is a great ingredient for candles:

-Clean Burning: Soy candles put off less smoke than paraffin candle, therefore there is much less (if any) black soot accumulating on the inside of your candle's container. I also use cotton wicks which help diminish the occurrence of smoke or soot (as opposed to wicks which have a zinc core).

- Cost Effective: Soy candles burn at a much slower rate than paraffin candles. They can burn up to twice as long (or sometimes longer!) than a paraffin candle, giving you twice the candle.

- Promoting American Farmers: Soy beans are grown in American fields and are processed in the US.

- Scent Throw: Soy candles fill your rooms with a strong and lasting scent and contain a much cleaner smell than paraffin candles due to the additional chemicals released from burning paraffin.

- Health Factors: Soy candles burn with no toxins or carcinogens. Paraffin candles contain at least 4 probable cancer-causing chemicals - Benzene, Carbon Tetrachloride, Trichloroethane, and Toluene. So consider the health of yourself and your family when choosing what kinds of candles you want to burn in your home.

- Think Green: Soy candles are made from a renewable resource, are biodegradable, and are better for the environment.
I certainly had no idea before of all the benefits of using soy candles, but plan to try to purchase them exclusively from now on!

You should definitely go check out JKM Candles on the web at http://www.jkmsoycandles.com/default.html and on Facebook!

What's that? You'd like to win a JKM Candle? Well, you're in luck! Jenny has offered to give one of my readers a free 4oz candle in the scent of your choice!

Peter Rabbit Organics Review and Giveaway! **CLOSED**

**The giveaway is now closed. Congrats to Amanda for being chosen by random.org! **

Hey guys!

So, last night I got home at 7pm and found a box in my mailbox from Peter Rabbit Organics. I'm able to post my review because my family has gobbled these up already!

This is how they came packaged--isn't that cute!? I just had to take a picture before I took them out of the box. As you can see, we received "Mango, Banana, and Orange," "Strawberry and Banana," and "Apple and Grape" to try out. Peter Rabbit Organics aims to provide healthy organic snacks for all to enjoy--and they succeeded at that in my house!

My husband and I really loved the way these tasted. The very first time we tasted it, I will admit, it seemed weird. Neither of us are used to sucking up pureed fruit. The more we sucked, the more we liked it! It was SO good! My little girl is still too young to talk, but I think she enjoyed her taste of it too! They are naturally sweet and it was nice to know we were eating just fruit, no sugar added, no high fructose corn syrup, just fruit--organic fruit!

These are so easy to eat from. They would be great even for a 1 year old. My daughter is only 6 months, so she enjoyed her own little spoonful, but once your child is able to drink from a straw, they are sure to enjoy these great fruit pouches!

I seem to always been on the run. These is such a great thing to be able to take with you as you head out the door as a quick, healthy snack!

Are you interested in purchasing some for yourself to try? You can buy Peter Rabbit Organics fruit puree pouches on Amazon.com, diapers.com, AND I just saw that Starbucks Coffee is now carrying them! What a great thing to pick up for the kids when you stop to get your morning latte!

Go to their website http://peterrabbitorganics.com/ to learn all about them and to find the closest place you can purchase some. You can also check them out on Facebook at www.facebook.com/PROrganics and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/PR%20Organics

And, even more exciting, the great people at Peter Rabbit Organics have offered to give one lucky reader an assortment of TEN pouches! These will be mailed straight to your house. I'm so jealous--I only got 3 and I want more!!

Baby Rock Apparel Review

Recently I was sent an awesome little t-shirt for my daughter to try out from Baby Rock Apparel.

My item arrived so quickly after letting them know the shirt I wanted to receive, and boy is it adorable!

My husband loves the rock/punk look and I knew he'd be thrilled over her t-shirt that said, "Cherish Thy Father."

I got it home, washed it up, and put it on my little girl the following day. I love the look of the pink cotton fabric.  You can't tell from the pictures, and it is hard to describe, but it has sort of a worn, thin fabric look.  The symbol and writing on the front are very high quality as well!

I should also mention that although the shirt is 50% cotton, I did not notice any shrinkage when I washed it. There was only one negative flaw I found in the shirt. The tag seemed to itch my daughter. That is easily fixed though, and happens with a number of her clothes!

Baby Rock Apparel has a wonderful children's line of clothes, and has something for just about anyone! You should check them out online at http://www.babyrockapparel.com/. They have generously offered my readers 15% off your purchases, by using the coupon code "thriftynifty." This will be valid until December 15th, so don't miss out!

Crystaltree Bath and Body Review

I just spent 5 minutes searching my entire house. Why you ask? I sat down to write my review of Crystaltree Bath & Body products and could not find the lip balm that had been sent to me anywhere! See, I have this habit of carrying lip balm and chap stick all over the place so I have it with me all the time. Finally found it--next to the keyboard. I spend way too much time at the computer! But, if this tells you anything, it's that I love the Honeydew Melon Lip Balm I was sent to try! Normally I'm carrying Carmax all over the place. The lip balm really soothes my lips though, and has an awesome taste and smell; I've just loved using it!
Beyond the fabulous lip balm, I was sent 3 other products. Rosemary Exfoliating Foot Scrub, Tropical Passion Fruit Moisturizing Body Spray, and Frosted Sugar Cookie Body Butter.

I should take a new picture of the foot scrub for you. If I did, you would see that the label is starting to peel because it has been sitting in my shower since I got it! I've been using it every morning on my extremely dry, rough feet. I am a flip flops or barefoot kind of girl and my feet take a beating! Not only does the foot scrub smell really good, but my feet really feel softer now. There was only one negative thing I found about the scrub. The first 2 times I used it, all the ingredients didn't seem to come out. Maybe it was user error and I just didn't shake it hard enough, long enough. Now that I have used a little out of the bottle though, everything mixes together really well!

The body spray was actually the first product I tried when it was sent. I was sitting in bed at night going through the products and sprayed some on myself, then turned to my husband to see if he liked the scent, because for me, if hubby doesn't like it, I don't use it. And.....he liked it! He said it smelled really good! I like it a lot too. It was refreshing actually going to bed with it on me because I drifted off to sleep smelling the good passion fruit smell!

Aah, body butter. I tried this out for the first time in bed also, the following night. I'm not sure why it always seems to be that I'm trying products in bed. Maybe it's because I'm a mom now and that is my only free time all day long it seems.  I was sent "Frosted Sugar Cookie" body butter. I learned quickly that I should not put it on in bed, because I had already brushed my teeth, and the yummy smell it gave off made me SO hungry! Inevitably I ended up going downstairs for a late night snack so I wouldn't eat my hands off.  I have extremely dry hands. I clean houses part time, besides cleaning my own home, and never wear gloves like I should. My hands take a beating every day. The body butter was really soothing and moisturizing on them. The only draw back is that it is a little greasier feeling, but, if there's one thing I've learned, its that normally if the lotion/butter feels greasy, it usually does a much better job of moisturizing. Putting it on at bedtime though and allowing my hands to really soak up all the benefits was wonderful!

I really think Crystaltree Bath & Body has some great products you should check out! They are all reasonably priced, and her shipping was super fast! For those of you who loves your scents (like I do!) she does not scrimp on that at all! All of the products are bursting with scent that sticks around. My mailbox smelled just wonderful the day they arrived!!

BOWtastic Headbands Review

About two weeks ago, I won a free headband from BOWtastic Headbands! I thought I would leave her a quick review and share some pictures with all of you.

First off, the shipping was super quick! I told her which bow I wanted, and it was here in just a few days. Second, the quality of the flower barrette and headband are fabulous! They are both well made and I'm sure my little girl will be able to wear them for a while. And last but not least, it looked ADORABLE on my little girl's head! We had a birthday party to attend over the weekend where she was able to show it off. After that, we went shopping at Walmart and all throughout the store we heard hushed "awe, look at the cute baby and the big hair bow!" Thanks BOWtastic for a job well done!

Nine Months & Beyond Doula Wool Dryer Ball Review and Giveaway **CLOSED**

Congrats to Beverly, comment #3, and Jessica, comment #24. You won! Enjoy your dryer balls!!

I've reached over 300 fans on my Facebook page, so in celebration, I'm posting my review and giveaway of wool dryer balls by Nine Months & Beyond Doula!

I have never used a wool dryer ball before. I hadn't even heard of them until about 2 months ago! I have been using fabric softener for most of my loads of clothes, except for my daughter's clothing. Lately I have started to notice an almost sticky-like covering on my clothes when I take them out of the dryer. It was really starting to bug me, so I decided I wanted to try going the natural way of fabric softeners and use wool dryer balls.

Krystal at Nine Months & Beyond Doula was nice enough to send me 2 dryer balls to try out: one blue, one green. I was very happy to see, when the balls arrived, that she had posted the instructions and information about using the dryer balls right on the package.  This is what she says about them:

reduces drying time and the amount of static cling
naturally softens clothing and fabrics
no harmful chemicals to worry about
wool doesn't harbour bacteria
lasts years
are cloth diaper safe
don't leave in damp laundry for extended periods of time or with hook and Velcro

So, testing time--do they really work? I've washed them with jeans, towels, bedding, baby clothes, regular clothes and had great results with each load! I've been able to shorten each load in the dryer by about 10 minutes each! Not only that, but now I don't have that sticky feeling on my clothes when they come out of they dryer, yet they are still soft! Plus, I never wanted to use the softener with my baby's clothes, but now she gets to have soft clothes too! I have read that the more dryer balls you have, the better they work. I'm planning on purchasing a few more soon to make my laundry time even better!

The people at Nine Months & Beyond Doula have generously offered to let TWO of my readers each win a set of dryer balls. One person will win an undyed set, the other a dyed set.

Mandatory Entry:
You MUST be a fan of Nine Months & Beyond Doula on Facebook, and when you fan her, please thank her for the giveaway and let her know you were sent by Thrifty Nifty Mommy.

The Woombie Swaddler

Over the weekend I went out to my mailbox and was delighted to find a package from Woombie!
At first I wasn't quite sure how my daughter would react to it. She hasn't ever really been swaddled, even from birth. I never had a swaddle sleeper for her, and never did it with a blanket because she always managed to kick it off.
We usually put her into her jammies about a half hour before bedtime.
Well, we got her changed for bed and put her down for a few more minutes of playtime. Oh, did I mention she's rolling now? I thought that it would keep her from being able to roll--nope, she was all over the place anyways! She loved it! She rolled like normal with a big smile on her face!  I was also concerned because my little girl is a belly sleeper. You can put her to bed on her back, but she will roll right for the belly! I wasn't sure how she would handle things being in the Woombie, but she was able to roll herself right over and get comfy! I should mention however, the Woombie does not recommend, for safety reasons, that you continue to swaddle your baby once they are able to roll.

Lets talk fabric! It is SO soft and just the right amount of stretchiness. I would love to have something so comfy to sleep in!

I wish I had had one of these when my little girl was a newborn! Her arms would twitch a lot and it would always wake her up. I will definitely be buying one of these when I have my next child! They are so practical and a must have for any new parent!

The Woombie was recently voted PTPA BEST PRODUCT 2010 and winner of the Moms Best Award 2010 and PTPA (Parent Tested Parent Approved) Award 2010.

Check out Woombie on Facebook, Woombie or at their website, http://www.woombie.com/! You won't be disappointed!

Fisher Price Houseparty/Giveaway ** CLOSED **

And the lucky winner is.....Ella P! Ella, you forgot to leave your email address, so you have 48 hours to contact me and claim your prize. Send me an email at thriftyniftymommy@yahoo.com

I was picked a few weeks ago to host the Fisher Price Houseparty. I am SO excited! My boxes arrived today and the toys they sent for my daughter are just fantastic! I'm hosting my party on Friday, September 17th.

In celebration of my Houseparty, I wanted to get all of you involved as well. First, I will be having a referral contest on my Facebook Page. Check it out for all the details!

Secondly, I'm going to be giving one random fan of my blog the Lil’ Zoomers™ Spinnin’ Sounds Speedway from my party! Now, I do have to tell you that the box will be opened and the toy played with for about 3 hours. In keeping with the rules of Houseparty, I received the toy so that my guests could enjoy it and I'm going to follow that rule! But, then it's yours! I have a little girl, and although it looks like a ton of fun, it is more geared towards boys and I'd love to give it to one of my readers.

Here's what Fisher Price had to say about it: "Ready, set, spin! Baby will love the put-and-take fun of placing two cool race cars on the ramp. They roll down and around on the swirling, light-up raceway, then, surprise! The spinning action sends each car out to the exit ramp and under the spinning flag. Or baby can pull the gearshift to start the fun. Zooming speedway sounds, lively music and five flashing lights ramp up the excitement, with a winner every time! Requires 2 AA batteries."

I will close this blog and chose a winner Monday, September 20th.

So, here's how to enter for the Lil Zoomers Spinnin' Sounds Speedway

Mama Cloth Review and Giveaway **CLOSED**

This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to Caroline Marin. You have 48 hours to get in touch with me before I pick a new winner. You can reach me on FB or at thriftyniftymommy@yahoo.com   Thanks everyone for participating!

I was lucky enough to win a giveaway on Chica Boo about 2 weeks ago. I won 3 free cloth wipes and 2 Mama Cloth pads.
This is the very first mama cloth pad I have ever even laid eyes on. Honestly, I never even knew such a thing existed until about 2 months ago. When I first heard of mama cloth, to be honest, I thought, “gross!” But then, as I thought about it more, I realized maybe it wasn't such an awful thing after all. I cloth diaper my daughter, and this isn't really much different. So, I decided I'd give it a try.

Well, first off I have to say, these 2 pads she sent me are adorable! I love the way they look. Definitely more attractive than the alternative! The other thing I must say is that they feel 100x's better than ANY commercial disposable pad. It didn't even feel like I had anything on when I was wearing it! They have great absorbency as well!

I have been converted! I'm going to be buying more soon!

As I said, Chica Boo also sent me some awesome cloth wipes for my little girl. Until now, I've just been using washcloths I purchased at Wal-mart. Oh man, those don't even compare! These are so soft and the fabric patterns are so cute!

When I mentioned to Chica Boo that I would post a review on my blog, she generously offered to make me and extra pad to give away to one of you! Now you can try, and be converted too! :) Here's a picture of the one you'll win:
