Chicken Soup for the Soul Country Music Book Review and Giveaway

Songs tell a story, and now many of country music’s most famous singers and songwriters are sharing more of the story! These artists reveal the inspiration, influence, and background, and when and why they wrote their most famous songs, in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Country Music. The book also includes great photos of the songwriters and all of the lyrics. A great gift for anyone who loves country music!

My normal music choice is contemporary Christian music, but when I'm not listening to that, then most likely you'll hear country music on my radio. I like to stories that most of the songs tell, and that's why I really enjoyed reading this book and learning about the stories behind the songs. I especially liked reading the story behind a few of my favorite songs, He Didn't Have to Be, I Hope You Dance, & Jesus Take the Wheel.  If you enjoy country music, I would definitely recommend this book to you and think that you'll really love it!

Chicken Soup for the Soul is going to give 3 of my readers their own copy of this book! Enter below for your chance!

*I was not paid for this review. I only share my honest opinions. Thanks to the company for the complimentary giveaway items.*

  1. A country music song that affected my life is, "Last Dance" by Garth Brooks because it was played at my mother's funeral. This song is very emotional for me everytime I hear it. On the plus side I wanted to share a happy story. I live in this little town of KY probably about 2,500 people live here not sure. The year 2004 early in the morning about 4am my friend Sarah & I went to go get some orange juice & soda for some drinks. We went to a gas station and right across the street was Wendy's. I seen a huge nice bus in their parking lot. I looked at my friend & said, "That has to be someone famous on that bus!" Walked to our car & I seen the bus driver was waving for us to follow him. We were freaking out like what is he doing and what does he want? Yeah we were young & stupid but we followed. The bus pulled over right behind Wendy's on the ramp to the interstate. We pulled right beside the bus drivers window. He said, "Do you ladies know how far Columbus, OH is from here?" so we told him how far and he said, "Wow it's still that far away?" but thanked us for telling him. I said, "Is there anyone famous on that bus?" He said, "Oh, just Rascal Flatts" and I said, "WHAAAATTT are you SERIOUS?!?!" We were over excited & it just seemed too good to be true. I said, "Can we come on the bus & meet them?" He told me give him a minute. We were sitting in the middle of the road so we pulled infront of the bus & got out. We stood outside of the door waiting to get on. The bus driver opened the door and said, "You can't come on but I can get you autographs!" We were disappointed that we didn't get to get on the bus but we understood that they were wore out and for safety reasons. We went & found whatever paper we could find in Sarah's car. She gave me like a bank envelope lol. We went back to the bus driver and he asked our names. We stood outside for like 2 mins. He came back & handed us the autographs. I can't remember what Sarah's said but mine said, "Charlotte don't drink too much!" I was in shock!!! I probably made the biggest smile anyone has ever seen. Rascal Flatts watched me walk out of the gas station!! They knew I was carrying orange juice & soda!! I was just the happiest person ever and loved it. The best night of my life!! (I have a pic of the autograph on my fb page under "Random pics") We finally had to say goodbye to the bus driver. The bus took off on the interstate & we followed them to the next exit. Guess what??? WE FINALLY GOT TO SEE THEM!!! They opened their curtain up & they were in their boxers waving at us!! A couple of them had their shirts off. Yes Rascal Flatts wear boxers!!! haha!! Man they looked so GREEEAT!! Their wives are lucky! :) They waved at us the whole time & were doing silly things. Sarah had a sunroof so we were waving out of it. It was just truly amazing. I really hated getting off that exit saying goodbye to them. They were so awesome & their bus driver was extremely nice. We called the radio station & told them but I really doubt they believed us. Matter of fact no one believed us! My fiance just thought we were lying. We have an autographs to prove that we weren't though. Unfortantely we didn't have a camera at the time so that sucked. I would have really liked to have had pics of them. I don't know if we had camera phones then I don't think we did. Who would have thought in a million years that Rascal Flatts would have came to this small town in KY? Definitely me!! I love Rascal Flatts!!
