What I Thought

When I first pulled up the website and saw the product, I thought to myself..."this is one of those fancy, yet totally unneccesary baby products." My husband happenned to be sitting with me and he agreed. But as I searched the website longer it hit me--this would have been PERFECT for trips to Grandma's house! See, I always had one of those plastic baby bathtubs, but Grandma didn't have one. Any time I needed to give Maggie a bath there when she was tiny it was SO hard! When I tried to give her a bath in the sink she was sliding all over the place so I had to hold her with one hand (which was still slippery!) and gosh was it hard to try to clean her with the other!

Not only that, but then I got to thinking about how bath time used to be with Maggie, before she could sit up on her own. Giving Maggie a bath in one of those little plastic bathtubs WAS a challenge. I mean, where do you put the tub? I used to put ours in the big bathtub, but let's be honest--that's hard on your back! I put it on our bed when she was very tiny, but once she started splashing that didn't work anymore either! Being able to bathe Maggie in the sink would have been so much easier but then it brought me right back to those same issues we had at Grandma's house. I was SO happy when Maggie was old enough to sit on her own in the big, main bathtub! My back was too!

So, all of this ran through my mind as I'm looking at the website and I thought--I've gotta give this a try! Although Maggie is getting a little big for a bath in the sink, she still fits! Plus, I thought it would be great to give this a try so I'd know if it would work well for Baby #2 who will be here in May 2012!

To put it simply, I'm SO happy to have a Blooming Bath! I wish we'd had one of these when Maggie was tiny. It really would have made my life so much easier. She's able to sit in the sink without slipping and she thought the flower was a lot of fun. Maggie is so big that it was a little hard to wash her hair in the sink (although it could have been done) but washing her body was a breeze. After you're done with the bath, you can toss it in the dryer for 10-15 minutes or hanging it up to dry (like I did). I'm really looking forward to being able to toss the old plastic bathtub and use this exclusively with baby #2!  I think any expectant or new mother would be happy to own one of these!

  3. It might be a good idea to update this with the info that the bath is now $50! That seems a bit high to me; especially when a beach towel would probably serve the same purpose rolled up, just wouldn't look as cute. If you're made of money or have someone who wants to buy you an unnecessary yet adorable shower gift, then go for it! PS. it also comes in pink now!

    1. The nice thing about this flower as opposed to a towel is that it is much softer/fuller, plus the water comes out of it much easier than a towel.

    1. I haven't tried it with the newborn yet. He gets cold so easily that I've been bathing him right now in our bathroom where we can close the door and turn on a space heater. I will soon though and will let you know!
