There's a new children's potty coming to the States and I'm proud to tell you about it! It's called the Pourty Potty and we were recently sent one to try out. Pourty Potty got its start over in England and has quickly become a favorite in less than 2 years! Now Pourty Potty is launching in the US and you can purchase it easily from Amazon.com. What makes the Pourty Potty different from others is that it is a potty with a built in pour spout in the back. It is just one piece which means you won't have to empty a separate bowl like many other potties. It is also fairly small, making it easy to pour and easy to store. We have been taking potty training VERY slowly in this house (I'm talking months) allowing Maggie to use it when she wants to. As time has gone by, she has gotten more and more excited about going when I ask her and almost always says, "Yes!" Not only that, but she truly gets the concept now and actually uses the bathroom 98% of the time! I think she is very close to being completely potty training--mommy just has to remember to ask her about it more often!
The Pourty Potty works just like it says it will. It is super easy to pour into our toilet after Maggie uses it. We haven't had any mess. After I pour it, I rinse it, pour that, rinse again, and turn it upside down to dry in the bathroom sink. It's been a nice, mess-free potty for us that I would definitely recommend to anyone! There is also a handle at the front
I did not take a picture of her using the potty--there are some things I will spare her from and that is one of them! She doesn't need that embarrassment later on in life! I can say though that she really loves using this potty. It is small but just the right size for her. She loves the pink color it came in AND the kitty-one of her favorite animals- on the front.
Lastly, the potty is only $14.95 on Amazon and eligible for their free shipping program after you spend $25. Unless you have a tiny house, I'd recommend getting 2 potties--that way they are easily accessible to your potty-training child. Oh, and for those of you with boys, have no fear! The potty also comes in blue and white, with purple arriving in January!
Pourty Potty is being generous enough to offer to give away one potty to TWO different fans! Winner can choose the color potty they'd like! This giveaway is open to residents of the US only. If you'd like to enter the giveaway, just fill out this easy entry form. Good luck!

Be consistent! Don't have them wearing big kid undies one day and then the next put them back in diapers.

i find it helpful to encourage, but not bribe, and take the child to the bathroom a lot. Don't buy pull ups, buy training pants with a plastic cover. It's a waste of money and every kid I've dealt with at preschools/daycare in the past 10years thinks they're diapers!
My best potty training tip is that the child will train when they are ready. You can't make them go sooner. Also patience is the key. And for accidents on carpets....Bac-Out works wonders! Takes all the smell out.

Wait until they WANT to train. Trying to push a child who's not ready/not interested into training will just make it take longer and be more frustrating for you...and possibly make the child even more opposed to using the potty.

My best tip is to be consistent and patient. Once you start be prepared for accidents and don't look back to diapers, go straight to underwear.
ReplyDeleteMy best tip is skip the pull ups they are just like a diaper and if you go straight to underwear or panties it will be a messy few days but it works so much easier (now I did use a pull up or diaper on LoNg car trips or long outings) I had my son potty trained at 2 1/2 and daughter at 15 months by just doing the panty/underwear thing and now I've kinda started indroducing the potty to our 1 year old but I need to get a new little potty :)
ReplyDeletelet them be nekkid!!!
ReplyDeleteBe consistent and try to stay away from pull ups. I found my boys learned a lot faster if we just used underwear and no pull ups.
ReplyDeleteI never used pull ups with my daughter, and was very consitant and rewarded her with little stickers on a potty chart. She loved it!
ReplyDeleteDon't rush the child into it.

I agree with all those who say "Don't rush it." My tip is to buy some really cute little panties or Underoos and tell the child that when he/she is staying dry day and night, the new undies will be a sign of being a big girl/big boy.

I am so sorry -- twice now the form has submitted (and completely cleared) before I was finished filling it out. I apologize for any inconvenience I have caused. I believe I had a total of 17 entries.

I would suggest to wait till your child is ready to potty train them rushing doesn't help.

Be patient. They won't get it right away, so don't get frustrated when it takes some time.
ReplyDeleteWe're just starting. We got through all of the motions with him, but we don't push it. We want to get him EXCITED about using the potty first. :) Thanks for the giveaway!!
