Cookie Dough Bites Review & Giveaway

Okay, admit it--you've dipped into the cookie dough batter at one point or another in your life! We've all heard the stories about people getting really sick from eating raw cookie dough (in fact, I know someone personally who ended up in the hospital for days because she ate raw cookie dough) but we STILL do it because cookie dough is just SO good! New K'Nex Toys Review and Giveaway

Maggie loves building things with her hands! She has a couple of K'Nex kits already, so when two new ones arrived in the mail, she was SO excited when she saw them! I tried to take some pictures of her holding them, but she was so eager to open them up, I couldn't get her to hold still! Sorry, the pictures are fuzzy because of that!

Once I snapped a few pictures, we went out to the living room and she ripped open the boxes and started playing. The first set she played with was the Sesame Street Best Friends kit. She loves Sesame Street. This kit is so nice because there are only a 8 total pieces, making it really easy for children as young as Maggie to put together. She wants to do everything "self" now, and this kit enables her to do just that. She was so proud when she got Elmo and Cookie Monster put together!

Next we put together the Silly Monsters Building Set. This set is slightly more challenging with 23 total pieces, (Recommended for ages 3 and up) so Daddy helped her put this one together. She had a blast crafting it with him. She decided that one of the pieces was a lollipop. She has been pretending that ever since and even takes it to bed with her! I love seeing her use her imagination!

Since Maggie has a few K'Nex sets, we've put all of the sets together in one tub for her, so now she can mix and match and create all sorts of fun pieces! K'Nex is a great way for kids to play and use their imaginations, and these 2 sets are no exception!

Fresh Produce

I am less than three weeks away from my due date now! I am so excited to meet our little bundle of joy, but I'm also excited about getting out of these maternity clothes--can I get an Amen?!?

GSP Rushfit

*Thanks to my wonderful husband, AKA Thrifty Nifty Daddy, for this review.*

GSP Rushfit was kind enough to send my wide rear end the complete Georges St-Pierre RUSHFIT 8 Week Ultimate Home Training Program. I was so psyched! I am a huge MMA fan and the thought of getting into the same kind of shape as Georges St-Pierre (GSP) was exciting. While I am certain that these aren't the workouts that GSP does during his training routine the program (if followed properly) will net you some serious results!

When I started the program I was 25 years old and weighed in at 170 lbs at a height of 5'7”. Yeah... not great. I was at the very top of my Body Mass Index rating. Not exactly good shape, right?

There is no shortage of DVD workout programs out there so why should you choose RUSHFIT to begin with? First, it is much less expensive than programs like P90x or Insanity. Second, the workouts are much shorter. Don't misunderstand “short” as “easy”. These workouts are intense and effective. It just takes less time out of your day, which for most of us is a good thing.

So how does the program work? The basic flow is as follows:

• 10 minute warmup
• 25 minute workout broken down into 5 5-minute sets with a small rest period between each set
• 7 minute cool down

The exception to this is the Bonus DVD which you measure your physical ability against GSP himself to show how you're improving throughout the program. This is done 6 times during the 8 weeks in the beginner workout schedule. If you are out of shape like I was you will probably find that even the warmups are tiring. Just stick with it! It's worth it!

Honestly this isn't a program for the dude who wants to look like Ronnie from Jersey Shore, while I'm sure you will get some muscles from it. The program's for overall fitness. As far as straight strength, disc 1 has 3 rounds where you use dumbbells, and outside of a a bit on disc 5 everything else uses just body weight. I would say this program's sort of a lite version combo of p90x + Insanity. And I don't mean lite in a bad way, this is actually a very solid program, and if you put your all into it you will see results. The main instructor here is GSP's real life trainer, and ex MMA fighter, Erik Owings. He's very serious and to the point, so if you like a more light-hearted approach, look elsewhere. While GSP's in every workout, he's not really there for much else than than the fact that he's GSP and the workout has his name on it. He does toss in bits of wisdom here and there, and reminds you you need to push harder.

Here are the pros of the RUSHFIT program:

• The workouts are much shorter than p90x or Insanity, but when you finish one you'll still feel you had a great workout, you don't need to work out for 1.5 hours to get results. I was pouring sweat after every workout.
• GSP himself struggles with some of the exercises. I like this because it adds a bit of humanity to the program. You aren't just watching a ripped individual mentally beat you down because you can't do a certain exercise.
• The program can be re-done on intermediate and advanced. You're doing the same workouts, just more frequently. Because you're suppose to push to your max intensity, there's really no reason you couldn't go back and do this program a dozen times and still see results. It's just a good set of basic workouts.
• It costs a whole lot less than p90x or Insanity.
• All you need is 2 dumbbells. No expensive equipment.

Cons:

• This isn't necessarily a bad thing but some people might not like the fitness test portion of the program where you test your ability against GSP. GSP can pound out some huge numbers which may dishearten some people. Just remind yourself that he's in peak physical condition.

Now for the best part: my results!

I started the program at 170lbs (I'm 5'7”) which is overweight for my Body Mass Index scale. I am now at 152lbs and went from size 34 jeans to size 29! Check out the pic below!

This program really does work! The only limitation is your own motivation! I am looking forward to seeing the results I get as a move into the intermediate and advanced workout schedules!

Wooly Rounds Dryer Balls Review and Giveaway

I stopped using fabric softener with our laundry shortly before Maggie was born. Not only was I tired of paying the extra cost of buying it every month, but I found out that there are a lot of chemicals in dryer sheets and liquid fabric softener that I didn't want to keep using in our house. Have you ever heard to use dryer sheets to keep bugs away from you while you're outside--well, that trick really works--but I'm sure the reason it works is that THEY know to stay away from the chemicals in them!

As I learned more about using cloth diapers with Maggie, I also learned about wool dryer balls. Have you heard of them or tried them yet? While great for cloth diapers, wool dryer balls are great for all of your laundry!

What are wool dryer balls?

A wool dryer ball is a felted ball of wool that you use in your clothes dryer to help separate your clothes. Having several in your dryer creates a constant motion that allows for more air to circulate around your wet laundry so your clothes will dry faster. The more dryer balls you use, the less time it takes to dry a load.

 Why use wool dryer balls?

• help reduce static – wool fibers can absorb static cling
