Bridal Shower on a Budget!

Ever had to throw a party for one of your friends, but been totally strapped for cash? I recently was charged with putting together a bridal shower for my niece, and had no idea how I was going to find the time – or the money – to pull it off! Postpartum Haircare

It's happening so much quicker this time around....I'm talking about postpartum hair loss. When Maggie was born, it seemed like it was a few months after her birth that I started to slowly shed all my beautiful, excess hair, but it's already started just 2 weeks after Jacob was born! I hate it!

If you've recently had a baby and are suffering like I am there are a few things you can do to help with the postpartum hair loss. These won't stop it completely, but they are supposed to help!

• Continue taking your prenatal vitamins. If you are deficient in certain nutrients, you're apt to loose even more hair!
• Purchase shampoo/conditioner designed to give you more volume. This will help you not to notice your thinning hair as much.
• Minimize stress

One of the special things I did when my hair started to fall out after having Maggie was to treat myself to some nice hair care products. Normally I just buy cheap shampoo and conditioner when I'm out grocery shopping, but during times like this, I like to treat myself!

Playing Games Online

Now that baby Jacob is here, I spend a lot of hours nursing him....a lot of hours....a LOT! If you've ever breastfed a newborn, I'm sure you remember those days! I love looking down at his sweet face while he's nursing, but to be honest, I do start getting bored because we are doing it SO often!

One day while on my 5th or 6th nursing session it came to me...I could pull my laptop up beside me and play some fun online games while he nursed! I've never spent a lot of time playing games online because frankly, I didn't have the free time. Now I have plenty! After a quick search I found the I-Play website which has a TON of games to choose from.

I've tried a couple of different games, and right now I'm hooked on Deal or No Deal. I used to watch that show on television ALL the time. I guess it's not on anymore because I never see it, but this enables me to continue to enjoy Deal or No Deal!

What I Thought:

I must admit that I've never been drawn to the vampire, werewolf, type of shows/movies but my sister loves them! Since I felt she'd be a better reviewer for this title since it's right up her alley, I asked her to watch it and give me her review. Here it is:

Scott and his friend Stiles are walking through the woods when Scott is bitten by a large hairy animal. The following day, Scott begins to realize he has gained new abilities but when Stiles tries to tell him that he is a werewolf, he does not believe him. Scott can no longer deny it though when he transforms into a werewolf while on a date with the new girl in town, Allison. Of course, where there are werewolves there must be werewolf hunters, and Allison's Dad and Aunt turn out to be just that!

This show focuses on Scott and his friends going through the normal teenage issues, just complicated by the fact that Scott and Derek are werewolves. This show has great plot twists and talented writers. I was impressed with both the acting and special effects.  I give it two thumbs up!

After hearing my sister talk about this season, I'm actually going to try watching it myself! She assures me that even though I'm not normally drawn to this type of show she she thinks I'll be impressed.

Forest Friends Bathroom from Beyond Bedding

We moved into our townhouse over 2 years ago. Honestly, I can't believe we've lived here that long. It seems like yesterday we were unpacking boxes. Having kids truly does make time fly by!

When we moved into our house, I was just a few months away from giving birth to Maggie. One of the things I wanted to get done before she was born, but never managed to do, was decorate the "kids" bathroom. I just didn't have time to look around for something I really liked, so I threw up one of the shower curtains we already owned (multi-colored stripes) and that's how it has been for the past 2 years.

It was boring, bland, and certainly did not make me think kid-friendly!

Just before our new baby Jacob arrived, I was finally able to transform the bathroom into a great space for our kids! COLONEL A.J. BULLARD

In Red Tails, Terrence Howard plays Colonel A.J. Bullard, one of the fearless leaders of the Tuskegee training program who has to fight for his pilots to be treated as equals against their White counterparts in the midst of World War II. Through the guidance of Colonel Bullard, his men are able to participate in several successful operations, including escorting bomber crews without any major casualties. Sergeant First Class William James, played by Jeremy Renner in The Hurt Locker, is a war veteran who arrives as the new team lealer is the US Army’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit during the war in Iraq. His main responsibilities lie in detonating bombs and disarming improvised explosive devices, otherwise known as IEDs. Though his maverick methods and attitude clashes with those of his team members, James never leaves his team behind, including when one of them gets captured by the enemies.

LT. PETE “MAVERICK” MITCHELL

In one of his more famous roles in his career, Tom Cruise plays Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in Top Gun, a young Naval aviator who gets sent to an elite US flying school, called Top Gun, for advanced fighter pilots but his reckless attitude annoys and impresses his instructors, one of whom he starts a relationship with. When one of Maverick’s friend dies during a flight, Maverick becomes affected by it and he decides to return back to Top Gun after completing his program to become an instructor.

CAPTAIN RAFE MCCAWLEY

Directed by Michael Bay, Pearl Harbor stars Ben Affleck as Captain Rafe McCawley who along with his best friend, Danny Walker (played by Josh Hartnett) joins the US Army Air Corps. In the midst of the second World War, McCawley volunteers to serve with the Royal Air Force’s Eagle Squadroms in England where his plane eventually gets shot down and his team presumes he is killed in action. Based on former Marine Anthony Swofford’s best selling autobiographical book, Jarhead tells the story of Swofford’s pre-Desert Storm experience. Swofford enlisted with the Marines in the late 1980s, going through boot camp where he was trained to become a sniper. Swofford and his peers gets sent to Saudi Arabia in the front lines of battle under the heat of the blazing sun where their enemy can’t always be seen and combat only happens every so often against hours of sheer boredom.

The doll has nice, flowing hair that is great for little girls to style and play with. There is also a brush included. When I was a girl, one of my favorite things to do with my dolls was play with their hair. In fact, I used a doll similar to this one with long flowing hair to teach myself how to french braid! My niece says that the hair is super soft, beautiful, and she likes putting her tiny barrettes in it.

OVERVIEW: 

The Jungle Bunch is a delightful movie about a cute and loveable penguin named Maurice, voiced by Golden Globe^® and Emmy^®-award winner and New York Times best-selling children’s author John Lithgow, debuting on DVD & Digital Download on May 29, 2012, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. 

The Jungle Bunch movie is the incredible story of how a Penguin’s egg fell off an Antarctic ice floe and somehow ended up in the jungle. Adopted and raised by an affectionate tigress, Maurice is totally convinced that he is actually a tiger! He divides his time between hunting, re-painting his stripes and teaching his own adopted son, Junior the Tiger Fish, his own special brand of hunting techniques. Maurice, Junior and all their jungle buddies form a happy, go-lucky but rather dysfunctional family.

Ping and Pong, two penguins from Maurice’s native Antarctic village, are in search of “The Great Tiger Warrior” to save their village from an oppressive group of walruses. Their search leads them to Maurice’s jungle home, where they tell him of their plight. Determined to help, Maurice, joined by Fred, a warthog convinced he lives in a musical; Batricia, the only bat afraid of the dark; Miguel, a more than primate gorilla; and Gilbert, a tarsier afraid to leave his limb, form a team and embark on an adventure they will never forget!

What We Thought:

Most of you know that we just added a new member to our family. Our little guy was born on Wednesday and we've been pretty busy ever since! We just got this DVD to review and it's been a life saver! A new baby in the house means mommy and daddy are a lot busier than usual and therefore we've let Maggie watch a little more television than we normally would. The minute she saw this DVD she wanted to watch it right away....and ever since then she's wanted to watch it on a daily basis. She even took it along to her grandparents when she spent the night there Wednesday night and they said it was such a cute movie! I haven't been able to watch the entire movie without interruption, but I'm sure I've seen it all, just in different pieces. If you're a parent, you know what I mean!  I love how self confident Maurice is and the characters are so endearing! This is a great, cute story for the entire family! 

I am thrilled to recommend this movie to families everyone. It is certainly one of Maggie's favorites, so I'm sure you're children will love it as well! This DVD becomes available on May 29th, 2012 and will be available exclusively at Walmart!
