I'm SO excited about the review/giveaway I have for you today! I have been cloth diapering for almost 3 solid years now and I have never, EVER loved a diaper the way I love my bumGenius OS Elementals!
Dearest Diapers sent me a BG OS Elemental in Twilight. It looks like this:
Here is the description for bumGenius:
Made With Organic, One-Size... affordable.
Looking for organic, natural fibers next to your baby’s bottom? Our award winning one-size bumGenius design is now available with luxuriously soft, 100% organic cotton inside.
bumGenius Organic One-Size Cloth Diapers offer an industry first - tabs that stretch for a perfect fit. Stretchy tabs combined with our brand-new snap fasteners make cloth diapering easy. Our new, "no-stuff" system available only in the bumGenius Organic One-Size Cloth Diaper is an ideal solution for families with a child in day-care or family members resistant to cloth diapers! It really is as easy to use as a disposable diaper. Using the snaps on the front of the diaper, adjust the size if needed, put the diaper on your baby, wash, dry and re-use. No extra steps. No stuffing. No cover required. Our one-size diapers are designed to fit most babies weighing between 7 and 35 pounds.
- Absorbent layer integrated into the waterproof outer layer.
- One step cloth diaper - no stuffing!
- Now also available in snap closures! Two rows of snaps ensure a trim, bumGenius fit everytime!
- Ultra-absorbent, certified organic cotton inner.
- Gentle leg elastic contains the mess!
Your organic diapers will need to be prewashed 5-7 times in hot water with a bit of detergent in each load. Dry warm.
Regular wash routine: Wash cold with ¼ of the manufacturer’s recommended amount of additive free detergent. Wash hot with the same amount of detergent. Double rinse. Dry warm.
And now for my review:
I'm going to get right to it! The BG Elemental is my absolute favorite, never-want-to-use-another-cloth-diaper-in-my-life, cloth diaper! I regularly used pocket diapers for about the first 2 years I cloth diapered. They worked pretty well, however I would get compression leaks and after 2 years, I was just plain tired of stuffing! That's when I decided I would try to find an AIO diaper I liked. I had been scared away from AIO diapers when I first started out because it seemed like they didn't receive the greatest reviews. I REALLY wish I had given them a try sooner.
The Elemental has the bumGenius tabs that BG users are used to. They have a little bit of stretch to them, which makes snapping them into the best position easy, and helps you get a better fit.
Now, I have, for the most part, put my children into disposable diapers at night because they would always pee through cloth. With the bumGenius Elementals, I was able to use them with my son at night (with an additional tiny hemp insert) until he was about 4 months old. At 4 months, my son started waking up MORE often at night to nurse. He's at the point where he generally even soaks through a disposable diaper. My daughter has potty trained but still wears a diaper at night. I'm able to put her in a BG Elemental overnight (again, with a small hemp insert) without any leaks, unlike her other pocket diapers.
Now, to be honest, I have talked to some moms who don't absolutely adore their Elementals the way I do (honestly, I have no clue why they don't!) and the common complaint I hear is that they take longer to dry. This is true--they are going to take longer to dry compared to most of your other diapers. Normally, I will wash a load of diapers, followed by a load of the kids clothes right after. I put the diapers in the dryer, then throw the clothes in the dryer with the diapers when they are finished, so that way I'm at least drying other clothes during the long dry cycle. For me, it's worth the extra dry time to have a diaper I can put on my kids that I don't have to worry about leaking.
I've been using Elementals for probably 5-6 months now and I have NEVER gotten a daytime leak out of them....and sometimes I'm bad about leaving them on for 3-4 hours. I also do not find them to be any bulkier than your average pocket diaper.
I'm sold on BG Elementals and have sworn not to spend any more money on diapers unless they are Elementals! I'm in the process now of actually of selling off some of my other used diapers so I can pad my stash with more Elementals. The Elementals are my go-to diaper and the minute I grab my last clean Elemental diaper, I start doing diaper laundry 'cause I hate using anything else these days!
Buy It!
Okay, so now that you've heard my review, I know you're tempted to buy 1 and try it out. Honestly, I don't think you'll regret it (except that it will make you want MORE and you'll have to spend more money on new diapers, ha ha). In fact, if you buy an Elemental and you don't like it, contact me and I'll swap you for 1 or 2 of my pocket diapers! :) You can buy bumGenius Elemental diapers from Dearest Diapers for $24.95. Click here to visit Dearest Diapers to purchase your own bumGenius Elemental diaper(s)!
Win It!
Dearest Diapers has generously offered to give one of my readers an Elemental! The winner can choose the color they'd like, from her instock diapers. If you'd like a chance to win, just fill out the easy Rafflecopter form below. Good luck!
