It's Day 5
and we're eating and getting messy with Squooshi's reusable baby food pouches at Buddy Doo's Adventure-Roos & Viva Veltoro!
Squooshi began when Shannon didn't want the high cost or negative impact of food pouches to interfere with the messy, ooey, gooey fun of being a kid. After learning that 2 billion single use food pouches end up in landfills each year (and at $1.50-2.25 each, that's a lot of wasted money too!), she came up with the brilliant idea of Squooshi reusable food pouches.
Here's some fun facts from their website about Squooshi, reusable food pouches, and why you should make the switch:
We received the variety pack, including (2) 2.5 oz and (2) 4.5 oz pouches with a precious lion, bird, panda, and walrus on them. My personal favorite is the gorgeous purple walrus, but our Buddy Doo is fond of the lion; he prefers to look at the colors rather than feed himself when we choose this one! Starting solids is a messy business, so I enjoy how easy it is to stay on our new feeding schedule when leaving the house. Even though Buddy Doo has been ready for solids for a couple of weeks now, I've been putting them off because we're always running out to get something done. It has always been easier to take a bottle (and feed with one!), than packing baby food jars and spoons and dealing with the mess they can make. My first time checking out the food pouch route as an alternative left me with sticker shock, so I'm very thankful for Squooshi for providing an affordable refillable food pouch!
For even easier travels, the spoon food pouch attachment found in most local supermarkets (pictured is the blue spoon from the blue and purple 2-pk Parent's Choice) attaches perfectly to Squooshi. Buddy Doo is still transitioning between us spoon-feeding him and self-feeding, so we appreciate being able to attach the spoon whenever we need to. The pouches are easier to fill than I expected, and even easier to clean. Our bottle brush was able to squeeze in just fine and without worry of tearing the edges of the pouch. The only part I have had difficulty in cleaning was the outside portion of the tip, but only if not washed off right away. Buddy Doo is a messy boy and the tip gets drool and food bits all over it...after one feeding we forgot it in his dirty bottle bin and it caked on a little. Some hot water, soap, and a bottle pipe-cleaner got it off in no time though!
After doing some research, I haven't found another refillable food pouch that has the same value, quality, and eye-catching animals/colors as Squooshi. At $18.49 for the 4-pack variety I reviewed (less than the cost of 13 one-use food pouches!), I'm already looking to buy more of both the 2.5 oz and the 4.5 oz! They also make great gifts for those wanting to be more environmentally friendly, eat smarter, and save money.
And now, another review from Ruth and her Wubba with Viva Veltoro!

Here's some fun facts from their website about Squooshi, reusable food pouches, and why you should make the switch:
- Squooshi reusable food pouches are BPA-free, Phthalate-free, PVC-free, and Lead-free.
- Squooshi reusable food pouches provide more flexible and healthy nutrition options: fill with your favorite grain, veggie, legume, dairy, and fruit combos! (finally you can come up with your OWN combos, bond with baby, and find out what recipes you both like....together!)
- Squooshi reusable food pouches reduce waste: no more throw away food pouches piling up in landfills and contributing to air pollution!
- Squooshi reusable food pouches save you money on your food bills: pre-filled pouches cost between 1.50-2.25 each! (2,000,000,000 x $1.50-2.25 = $3,000,000,000-4,500,000,000 A YEAR!)
- Squooshi reusable food pouches save energy: empty pouches require a lot less fuel for shipping and most pre-packaged food travels over 1,200 miles before it reaches your table!

When we received our Squooshi pouches for review I was really happy to see how they are packaged. So often I receive products that are in such HUGE packages and it feels like such a waste. Squooshi pouches arrive in a cute fabric pouch with a drawstring closure, neatly tucked inside a perfect sized box!
We received the assortment pack for review which includes (2) 2.5 ounce pouches, and (2) 4.5 ounce pouches, each with a no-choke cap. As you can see in the photos, each pouch is absolutely adorable with a cute animal featured on it. Squooshi reusable food pouches are made of BPA-free, PVC-free, Lead-free, Phthalate-free, puncture resistant plastic to provide convenience and durability without unnecessary chemicals.
The pouches have a zip-lock style seal at the bottom for easy filling. It's recommended that you fill each pouch 3/4 of the way full to prevent over-filling. I did have a little difficulty with overfilling at first, but I quickly figured out the perfect amount for each pouch.
My little guy really liked using the Squooshi pouches. He was fascinated with the different animals and it made meal time more fun for him.
I love how easy they are to use! Once you get the hang of how much to put in each one they're super easy to fill. Since my little one is still getting the hang of using these pouches, I found that if I made my purees a little thicker he wasn't able to just squeeze out a huge amount at any given time. They're also really easy to wash! I just used a bit of warm, soapy water and propped them open to dry on our drying rack.
Overall, I really love these environmentally friendly pouches! They're a great alternative to single use pouches. They're easy to use, easy to wash, and adorable to boot!

I found another maker of reusable pouches (Little Green Pouch), and they sell 4 6-oz pouches for $14.99. But they don't have the animals on them, and I know lots of kids like designs. Did you find the 2.5 oz size to be large enough?
