You might remember that earlier this month I reviewed the Moby Wrap. If you didn't read that review, click here to read it now. My Moby Wrap was a product I could not have lived without during the first few months of my son's life. When I learned that Moby released a soft-structured carrier, I was eager to try it out and was so excited when Moby offered to send me one for review.
First, let me give you the main details of the Moby Go.
- The Moby Go is a soft-structured carrier designed for babies/toddlers 15-45 pounds.
- The Moby Go currently comes in 2 color choices: Gray and Black.
- The Moby Go has a waist belt that adjusts from 26"-54".
- The Moby Go has wide shoulder straps which then crisscross over your back before buckling into place.
I received a Moby Go in the gray color. Let me just say that I needed a carrier in this color because most of my other carriers tend to be more feminine. This is a color that even my husband is not be embarrassed to wear out.
When I received my carrier, I couldn't wait to try it out right away and had that opportunity when we went shopping the next day at Target. **Side note--moms, if you are tired of strangers putting their hands on or near your child's face, then wear them in a carrier when you go out. In my experience, people will keep their hands OFF of your child--were they belong--if they are being worn.** I found the Moby carrier very easy to put on and put my son Jacob (10 months) into. Per Moby's instructions, I first put the waist belt on and tightened it. Then I put the crisscrossed portion over my head and put my arms through the appropriate spots. Next I lowered Jacob into the carrier, and lastly I tightened up the carrier using the adjustments on both sides. It was really quite easy to get him into this carrier. When it was time to take Jacob out, I held onto him with one hand and used the other to unbuckled each side.
Jacob loves to be carried and was so happy on our shopping trip all snuggled up next to mommy. He did great and didn't fuss a bit. I also use this carrier around the house when I need to do some cleaning or cooking, and he wants to be held. Truth be told, he's a mamma's boy, so he wants to be in my arms a good portion of the day--and that's okay with me!
Usually I am wearing my carrier most often when my husband is not home because I need my hands free...and that's hard to do when a little boy just wants to be cuddled. Yesterday we had some nice weather, so we went outside while my husband was home and could snap some pictures for me to use in this review. Less than 5 minutes after we came back inside, Jacob was sound asleep (I'm sorry I didn't get the greatest shot of him sleeping--Daddy was still outside riding bikes with my daughter). It was close to bedtime, so I took him out (much to his dismay), put him in his jammies, nursed him, and he was quickly asleep again. I can't tell you how many times Jacob has fallen asleep while being carried in the Moby. He loves it, and so do I!
Not only can my son use this carrier, it also works great for his sister who is almost 3 years old. Daddy walked around with her for a while and they both agreed that is was very comfortable. Maggie said, "this is fun!" When the weather warms up, we are really looking forward to taking the kids hiking with us, and the Moby Go will be something we always take along!
Overall, I really like my Moby Go carrier. It's comfortable, it's easy to use, and I love the way it looks as well. The only drawback to this carrier would be for someone who wants to carry a child on his or her back. It is not necessarily designed to be used with your baby on your back. I *can* get it to work for me with Jacob on my back, but for someone (blessed) with a larger bust, I'm not sure how well that would work.
The Moby Go has a suggested retail price of $79.99 and can be purchased directly from Moby by clicking here or by visiting other retailers where Moby is sold.
